- I'm a civilian select. I found your blog after my package was submitted but your blog was extremely insightful and well written. Your stories definitely made the wait go by faster and gave us all something to look forward too going to OTS. Still waiting to find out if I got a pilot slot but none the less grateful to be selected.
- Just wanted you to know that I got accepted into OTS as a pilot!!! Thank you so much for all of your help with my package, it would not have been the same without your advice.
- Thanks airforceotsguy! I was a civilian pilot select for this board and your blog has alleviated a lot of my anxieties about OTS. It actually seemed like you were having fun at times. The one thing I am worried about is the lack of sleep though, as you said. I hate that my body needs 9+ hours to feel rested. Hopefully I'll power through!
- I was selected for RPA pilot on the 15OT03 board. I'm just waiting on my class date. It's been a year since I started the process, so now I am just ready to go. I've enjoyed reading your blog. Thanks a bunch.
- I'm overjoyed to report that I'm a civilian pilot select. I discovered this blog towards the end of my application process, but all of the information here is priceless, especially as I get ready to attend OTS. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences through this blog. I know it's been a blessing for me. -Aviator222

This is my experience applying, being accepted for, and successfully completing OTS as an active duty NCO. This is NOT a "how to" guide or a concrete example of what you will experience. Everyone's experience will be completely unique and will vary based on an almost infinite number of factors. This is simply my experience explained to you from my own unique perspective. Feel free to email me at airforceotsguy@gmail.com if you have any specific questions.

Congratulations! Thank you for the compliments and for your support. I am going to copy/paste your comment for this post for easier reference.
DeleteCongrats everyone! I hope to join your ranks very soon. I'm sure the month and a half delay was a killer. Does anyone have the info on how much release dates have been pushed back over the last few boards, and maybe some insight as to why?
ReplyDeleteI hate that wait! The forums are a better place to get the historical data/info but as far as "why" I personally think a lot of it has to do with logistics. From what I understand the board flies to Randolph and reviews the applications all together in the same room. Another factor is the increasing quotas which means more packages, which means more time required to collect them, board them, complete required actions for selects, and start the process all over again. If the quotas grow the staff which processes the numbers typically does not, so things take more time.
DeleteWhere are the results posted?
ReplyDeleteI think they are only posted on MyPers which is a site restricted to anyone with a military ID card. You may be able to get the info from the forums but it is getting harder and harder due to security reasons. At some point someone on the forums may provide a link to the official AFPC press release.

ReplyDeleteOTS was challenging but you are right, I did have fun! OTS put me in situations that made me realize I have been called to AF leadership. You will certainly power through. It is amazing what people can accomplish when faced with impossible odds or challenges. That's how we beat the Soviets to the moon. Thank you for your comment.
